We only do awesome.

We do identity design.
We like simple, clean, fun, memorable, evocative, usable design, and the same goes for our logo and identity work. Check out some of the identity work we've done along with commentary.Contact us:

A successful product effectively uses technology, and it is based on a sound business model. But there is something more. A product should be a pleasure to use. A pleasure to look at. Business models, technologies, UX and identity design, these are some of the elements that comprise a product. Betafab design and build products: We take big ideas and figures out how to make them real. Our experience in the reality of product design and development, in big companies and small, makes us uniquely skilled at creating products that people need. And more importantly, want.

Whether it's in a bar or a conference room,
asking a product management consultant what he does – a seemingly simple question – is apt to lead to a long conversation. We don't do stupid things for money.
We don‘t know what ideas will ultimately succeed in the marketplace, but sometimes we‘re pretty sure an idea won't. Our reputation rests on a more than fifteen year track record in the Philadelphia-area start-up community, and we don't want to endanger it by burning billable hours working on projects that violate the laws of physics. What do we do?
We help companies rediscover their start-up mojo. We help entrepreneurs build products without building up staff. We help you think through your product: What are you trying to do, for whom, and – critically – how do you expect to make money doing it? We are the hub of the product design and development wheel: we connect the spokes, and make a balanced product. Err, wheel. More analogies: We're product mediators, facilitators. Product organization therapists. We make sure that the different interests that every product must serve – finance, marketing, fundraising, design, technology – get heard and addressed.Who are we?
We are small. Really small. We are one person, Edwin Watkeys. He's been working in Philadelphia area start-ups since 1994. He's spent time at ad agencies. He's consulted for huge pharmas. He's founded successful consulting companies. And, of course, like anyone who's been at it for any time, he's been a part of learning opportunities i.e. not-so-successful companies.Thinking and doing go together.
We love talking and thinking through ideas before we hit the ground running, but we don't like speculating. That's why we don't like requirements documents, complicated wireframes, or other forms of wishful thinking. We take a hands on, think-act-evaluate-repeat approach. If you haven't thumbed through 37signals's Getting Real, we would recommend that you do; it represents a good first approximation of how we approach solving problems. (Consider for a moment that we think what they've written is important enough to send you away from our web site. Think about that. And then contact us!)Copyright © 2009 Betafab, LLC.
